Russia has been taking steps to push the Belarusian army into the war against Ukraine. Even at Putin’s personal instigation, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko agreed to form a joint force and deploy it near the border with Ukraine, such as the Brest Fortress.

Lukashenko is a political old man, like an old fox. He needs Putin’s support to maintain his dictatorship in Belarus, but he is not willing to follow Putin’s baton, because that would maintain his rule in Belarus but make it meaningless. Therefore, Lukashenko has always played a two-faced game between Western countries and Russia, turning over and over, especially since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, he has repeated it many times.

The latest round of changes is that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko ordered the main forces of the Belarusian army that have been sent to the Ukrainian border, including the 5th, 6th, 11th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigades, the 103rd Separate Guards Airborne Brigade and other units. These Belarusian units, which constitute many of the main forces sent to the Ukrainian border, will immediately return to their original permanent positions.
