The tactical battalion, a theory of military reform, exaggerated by Russia for its omnipotence, has performed poorly in the war in Ukraine, so it has been completely abandoned in battle.

Taking the Western Military District of the Ukrainian battlefield as an example, the Russian army is now organized into the 20th Guards Combined Arms Army, they govern forces in three directions. The 144th Motor Rifle Division is responsible for the Svatov direction. In the direction of Klimina to Rubizhne, the 3rd Motor Rifle Division was deployed. In Troitsk, northwest of the Luhansk region, was deployed the 11th Regiment of the 18th Motor Rifle Division. Of course, there are also parts of the Donetsk armed forces, the First Army and the Second Army that originally supported Russia.

As the elite units of the Western Military District, the Russian army deployed the 76th Guards Air Assault Division and the 106th Guards Airborne Division, which have always been the elite units of the Russian army. Judging from these deployments, the Russian army has completely abandoned the bragging reform theory and tactical battalion establishment of the past and restored the establishment of the Soviet army in World War II and later, that is, the formation of group armies and divisions and battalions. At present, in the Ukrainian battlefield, the Russian army is basically engaged in actual combat according to this formation.
